Setting up iCloud is the first step in the synchronization process. iCloud is a cloud-based storage service in which your data such as images, videos, apps, documents, and more can be stored. If set up correctly, your data can be easily accessed from both your iPad and iPhone.
To set up iCloud, open the Settings app on your devices, tap on your Apple ID at the top of the screen, and then select iCloud. This will lead you to a page where you can toggle on/off the apps that will be included in the iCloud backups. Ensure that all the apps you want to sync are toggled 'On'. To do this, tap the slider next to the app; it should turn green.
Automatic Downloads is a feature that allows your purchased content from the Apple Store (like music, apps, books, etc.) to be automatically downloaded to all your devices. This ensures that your media content is synchronized across both your iPhone and iPad.
To enable Automatic Downloads, go to Settings, scroll down and tap on 'App Store' or 'iTunes & App Stores' (depending on your device's model). Here you'll find the 'Automatic Downloads' section. Toggle 'On' the types of media you want to be downloaded automatically across your devices.
For data like emails, contacts, and calendars, you’ll need to set up iCloud for Mail, Contacts, and Calendars. This is done through the 'Mail', 'Contacts', and 'Calendar' sections respectively found in your device’s Settings. Enable what you want to sync, and it will be updated across both your iPhone and iPad periodically.
That’s it! You’ve managed to configure your iPhone and iPad to sync automatically. Now, suitable changes you make in one device will be reflected in the other. No more manual updating required!
