To sync messages between your iPhone and Mac, the first thing you need to do is to make sure that you're logged into iMessage with the same Apple ID on both devices. To do this on your Mac, launch the Messages app and then follow these quick steps:
Click on 'Messages' in the menu bar and then select 'Preferences'. Click on the 'iMessage' tab and enter your Apple ID and password if you haven't done so already. Make sure the box next to 'Enable this account' is checked.
After your iMessage is set up on your Mac, you'll need to enable Text Message Forwarding on your iPhone. This feature lets you send and receive standard text messages on your Mac as you would on your iPhone, even if your iPhone is turned off or not on the same Wi-Fi network.
On your iPhone, go to Settings > Messages. Scroll down to find 'Text Message Forwarding' and tap on it. You should see a list of devices using your Apple ID. Toggle on the button next to your Mac book to enable forwarding.
Checking your message settings is an important step in ensuring that your messages are being synced correctly. An often-overlooked setting that can affect message syncing is the 'Send & Receive' option in your iPhone's messages settings.
In the 'Send & Receive' options, check that you can be reached at your mobile number and your Apple ID email address on both devices. On your iPhone, this should be set to 'your number and Apple ID email'. On your Mac, it should be set to your 'Apple ID email' by default. This configuration helps to ensure that all messages that are sent or receive to your mobile number will also appear on your Mac.
By meticulously setting up iMessage, enabling Text Message Forwarding, and carefully checking your message settings, you can easily sync messages from your iPhone to your Mac. This integration not only allows easy access to your messages across devices but also ensures you never miss an important text.
