Different business owners do things in their own way, but they'll still have a few things in common, and one thing all business owners want is for their business to be as productive as possible. That makes sense; the more productive a business is, the more profit it will make due to bigger and better sales and a positive reputation, so it's definitely something you’ll want to work on.
There are lots of different options here to make sure your business is a productive one, but did you know that your office, if you have one, can be one of those options? The way it’s laid out and decorated, for example, can boost productivity, and with that in mind, here are some hacks to help you have a more productive office.
If you’re surrounded by things that look boring and feel uncomfortable, you’re going to be bored and uncomfortable - it just makes sense. And that leads to a problem because employees who are bored and uncomfortable aren’t going to be productive - instead, they’ll just do whatever has to be done and get out of that office as soon as they can, rather than being more productive and motivated to do more.
If, however, you’re surrounded by interesting things that feel good and look good, you’re much more likely to be productive and have an interest in the things that are going on around you. Want that for your team? Then get some great furniture and make your office look and feel good, and you’ll be amazed at the difference it makes.
So there’s the inside of your office, of course, and that might be the only thing you consider because, after all, that’s where your team does their work. But what about the outside? It might be that if you did something to improve the curb appeal of your building, such as landscaping or graffiti removal, you’ll improve the productivity in your office at the same time.
Remember that your team has to see the outside of the building every time they walk into it, and even if they don’t consciously notice the mess, they will do so subconsciously, and that could affect how productive and happy they are once they’re inside, no matter how great the interior looks. It’s well worth fixing up the outside of the building for this reason, and for the fact that it will give others a better impression of your business.
It can be horrible to have to work (or do anything other than sleep) in a dark room without little to no light coming in. It’s gloomy and depressing, and certainly not somewhere that’s going to motivate people to be hugely productive - once again, they’ll just want to get out of there as soon as possible and get into the sunshine.
What’s the solution? Let the daylight in, of course! The fact is that a lack of natural light can really badly affect someone’s health, both physically and mentally, and that’s a bad situation to be in. The more natural light you can let into your office, the more productive (and healthy and happy) your team will be.
